What is marriage, apart from sex and children?

apart from sex, children and social acceptebility,

i do not see anything in marriage.Many marriages end in divorce, rest of the couples are discontent with their relationship and spouse.

There are very very few couples who are still in love after some years of marriage. Extramarital flings are more common then society is ready to admit. It is just a kind of social commitment with legal obligations, and definitely not love. And everyone knows love dies after marriage.

And till a guy is unmarried he don't has to care much about his financial security, even his life and society. But as he gets into committed relationship he has to give up his rebellious spirit for safety of his finances and family. Is marriage worth it considering you dont get an iota of what you invest (lose)?

The most important thing you lose is freedom, for a partner who do not necessarily loves/like you. I never met a truly happy long term couple. Lots of dysfunctional families and no happy family!

So why enter in this silly institution called marriage? Don't you think we should do away with marriage?
